Poster with historical drawing of one of Gothenburg's two redoubts. During Karl XI's warlike time, the latter part of the 17th century, Gothenburg's defenses were built up and the two redoubts, the Lion and the Crown, were built. The multi-tasker Erik Dahlberg was the architect. In the 19th century, the worry about war against Denmark in particular was over and Skansen Kronan was used as a prison and emergency housing for a growing population. Today it can be rented as a party venue and is an iconic part of the city's skyline where it is located on Risåsberget above Haga.
