Poster with newspaper cover from October 29, 1981. The perception in Sweden during the Cold War was that it was under constant pressure from the Soviet Union. That Russian submarines patrolled and violated Swedish territory was something people were well aware of, and submarine hunting intensified during the 80s. The Russians, for their part, denied all accusations. That is why it was particularly embarrassing for them when the Russian submarine U137 ran aground in Gåsefjärden outside Blekinge.
After being towed by the Swedish military into international waters, the boat was returned to the Soviets, as a farewell, the Soviet vice admiral told his Swedish counterpart " Farewell, and see you later ".
