Poster with the original drawing of the Dicksonska public library. Today's Allégården was built in 1897 as Gothenburg's first city library. It was the first public library in Scandinavia and the patron Dickson deliberately built it next to the working-class district of Haga. The architect Hans Hedlund was inspired by medieval romanticism and created a castle-like building that stands out where it is at the farthest from Södra Allégatan.
Creator: Hans Hedlund
