Now we're off to Saltis!
Poster with advertising poster from 1896 urging travelers to hop on the new Saltsjöbanan out to the seaside resort. The bankers Ernst Thiel and KA Wallenberg had financed the railway and bought and divided plots for the planned villa and seaside resort near Stockholm. In 1893, the track was completed, together with the new Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden, which was inaugurated by King Oscar II the same year. Industries grew up around the track, such as Atlas Diesel in Sickla and de Laval's steam turbines in Järla, and during the latter part of the 20th century, the town grew together with Stockholm.
